gra·mer·cy [gr-uh-mur-see]
archaic. (interjection) – used to express gratitude or surprise
i believe strongly in the power of gratitude. of being thankful for what we have. of expressing appreciation.
it keeps our souls healthy and it brings joy to the front.
so on mondays, the dreaded return to the grind day, i plan to begin with an attitude of gratitude. not always food-related, but sometimes. maybe a product i love. possibly a place i miss… always gramercy!
if the image above does not look incredibly familiar, then you very likely are not the parent or grandparent of a male youth.
that is a minecraft creeper. and for those of your who aren’t privileged enough to know minecraft well, i’ll explain.
i like to describe minecraft as a virtual lego-like building game/app, complete with villains, like creepers, zombies, and spiders (which are actually way less terrifying than they sound.) in your world, if you can think it up, you can build it and grow it and create it. this game has been an obsession of my now SEVEN year old boy.
somehow, that little guy of mine keeps growing! seven… and a minecraft birthday was how he wanted to party this year.
of course i wanted to do what i could to make it fun and memorable for him and his buddies…
because everything in the minecraft world is square, i thought i’d make his invitations into cubes (thanks, pinterest!). and because i didn’t want to pay someone to make them, i downloaded some minecraft fonts i found through google and these grass blocks, and made my own.
what better party favor and way to keep up with kiddos at a birthday party than t-shirts!? the kids loved them. when they arrived for the party, each kiddo got a minecraft creeper t-shirt. once again, i’m a DIY girl if it’s easy enough. and these were. i downloaded this creeper face image and printed it onto this printable transfer paper. ordered these super inexpensive, but quality youth-size green t-shirts and ironed on the creeper faces. done.
so, today and always, i am thankful for my sweet, sensitive, smart, and creative boy. he’s a great big brother, thoughtful friend, and gentle soul. it’s an honor to be his momma.
