gra·mer·cy [gr-uh-mur-see]
i love it when worlds collide.
shortly after moving here to DC i was walking through a busy mall, waddling along with my giant pregnant belly pushing my 2 year old in her stroller. then the last thing i ever expected happened…
someone called my name.
maybe that happens a lot to you when you’re out and about, but it is a pretty rare occurrence to this girl who moves all the time. especially just a just short weeks after moving in. always the new face in the new place. not so many familiars to bump into. once i realized it was indeed me being called i turned to see my college friend, chimene.
chimene is a fellow baylor bear. she and her husband (who was also a baylor friend) have lived in this area for several years raising their three lovely daughters. a few years ago, chimene and her incredible heart for mommas and for Jesus created passion4moms, an annual conference held here in the DC metro.
chimene’s vision for this time of bringing women together is to help each other achieve goals and tackle struggles in marriage, parenting and life, directing our eyes at Christ through it all. through this event she has brought in impressive names like tedd tripp and deborah phelps, who have shared their stories and inspired attendees.
this year her unbelievable keynote speaker for the april 29-30, 2016 event is jen hatmaker! if you haven’t followed jen’s blog, it is a must. her sense of humor and self deprecation is the best. i dare you to read much of what she has to say without a burst of laughter, and at the very least a nod of agreement with her honest struggles as a mother sometimes barely keeping all of the plates spinning. plus she committed the whole summer to watching the entire gilmore girls series… she’s clearly my kindred spirit.
my exciting news is that chimene has invited me to join their speaker lineup this year! i’ll be sharing about feeding our children well, focusing on both general healthy nutrition practices and gluten-free living.
if you are in the DC area, please join us. even if you’re not… the event will be worth the trip and a great reason to get away for a respite of inspiration and renewal. go check it all out now… so far there are still tickets available!
