Deodorant for Thieves

thieves-deodorant-3
here’s a little bit of a “getting-to-know you, getting to know all about you” post. (you’re supposed to sing that part in your best rodgers & hammerstein voice.)
and if you do know me already, then it will come as no surprise… i am a little bit “crunchy”.
no, i don’t make my own hemp clothes or hug trees or own a prius.
but i haven’t worn deodorant in about 9 years. (to some maybe that’s worse than owning a prius?)
slathering icky heavy metals (aluminum), preservatives, and heavens know what else daily under my arms, next to delicate tissues (hello, boobies), is not something i am comfortable with.
i have tried it all… store-bought natural deodorants and sprays, salt sticks, even hand-sanitizer in a pinch. in a moment of honesty i’ll admit at times i have been stinky. i know. gross. and probably too much information.
but i have found my answer… this deodorant works!!
a few ingredients of things already in my cupboard and i’m no longer the stinky girl.
blend in any of your favorite essential oils… you can smell like lavender, grapefruit, peppermint. up to you!

i used thieves oil. i love the stuff. i spray it around my house and paint it on the bottoms of my kids’ feet. we say it smells like christmas, since it is a combination of cloves, cinnamon, eucalyptus and other delicious smelling things. best of all it is antimicrobial and great for the immune system.so why not spread that on your pits every day!?

  • 1/3 cup baking soda
  • 4-5 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 15 drops essential oil such as Thieves oil*

Instructions

  • Combine starch, baking soda, coconut oil, and essential oil. Store in a jar at room temperature. Use a pea-size amount under each arm every day and as needed.
  • *(the cinnamon in Thieves oil can be a bit much for sensitive skin, especially if those pits are freshly shaven...)
